Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Activity Surges in Emerging Markets

Emerging market-based companies continue to expand their reach into other markets through aggressive mergers & acquisition activity. Outbound activity in emerging market countries currently represents 21% of M&A in the broad group of countries (totaling USD $ 56.1 Billion for the year to date), the second highest proportion on record, which suggests emerging market companies are increasing buying foreign assets. Oil & gas, healthcare and chemicals are the top three most active sectors; China, Israel, UAE, India & Singapore round out the top 5 countries based on dollar volume.
